Freshly Squeezed Homemade Limeade
There’s just something about citrus that brings about the warm and sweet feelings of summer breezes, catching fireflies, and swinging with my grandma on her back porch after we finished picking the garden.
Although this simple homemade recipe calls for limes, you could easily substitute lemons or a mixture of both.
I’ll get right to the point. You need to make this. And you need to let your children help you. Talk about making wonderful memories and yumminess in one simple recipe.
1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (8-10 limes)
1 cup sugar
3 cups water
Fresh strawberries, cherries, or sprigs of mint.
2-3 drops lime vitality essential oil
2-3 spearmint vitality essential oil
- Citrus Press
- Mixing bowl
- Wire Whisk
- Measuring cup
- Glass Storage
Slice 8-10 limes in half and squeeze out the juice into your mixing bowl. I have a juicer like this that we use. You could set aside 1 of your limes to cut into wedges for garnishment!
It should make approximately 1 cup of juice. We then add the sugar into the mixing bowl with the juice.
Finally, we add 3 cups of water to the juice mix.
We use a wire whisk to mix the entire bowl until the sugar is dissolved. You could use warm water to speed up the process.
After the sugar is dissolved, we put our funnel on top of our glass swing-top jar and slowly pour the mixture into the bottle. Place in your fridge to chill.
Although this freshly squeezed limeade doesn’t last too long in our house, we do store our homemade limeade in a glass swing-top jar like this. My children think this kind of bottle is fun to pop the top and pour from!
Important Note about Essential Oils. They are not all the same. If you add any drops into your recipe, please make sure that they are FDA approved for consumption!
What other add-ins would you use?
Leave me a comment below after you make this! I would love to hear about it.
Blessings from my kitchen to yours,
