4 Ways to Create a Rest Cycle while Setting Christ-centered Goals

Rest is a concept that I struggle with.  The Enemy knows my Martha heart and makes every effort to pressure me to run faster and do more.  As a goal setter and a go-getter, the temptation to run at the world’s pace instead of the Lord’s pace is always before me.

A Hebrews 12 race is not about running to the goal as hard and as fast as possible.  A Hebrews 12 race is about knowing our purpose, to know our appointment, and to run at the pace the Lord has appointed us to move.  It is about seeing others the way that Jesus sees them. We cannot serve others if we can’t see them. Slow down, sister, and SEE THE PEOPLE you serve with the eyes of Christ.

By fixing my eyes on Jesus, I quit comparing my pace to the pace of other sisters in Christ.  By fixing my eyes on Jesus, I learn to pause and to be still when He commands. By fixing my eyes on Jesus, I relieve my Martha heart to be just a little more like Mary.  By fixing my eyes on Jesus, when he says, “Go in peace,” I know that my race is not yet finished and it’s time to return to the race he marked out for me with my eyes on Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Giant Slayer, many people choose a word for the year.  I have done this in the past.  But, what if God’s mission for us is bigger than just one word?  What if to become unlabeled by the world, we need a mission statement instead? Perhaps this is the very reason the Lord has affirmed to me that Hebrews 12:1-3 will set the pace for me for this next year!  Maybe He’s pressing this upon you too?

For with God Nothing is Impossible

A HIDDEN TREASURE “For with God Nothing is Impossible.” -Luke 1:37 I remember finding this little verse hidden within the “Christmas story” years ago when I was in Buenos Aires, Argentina doing mission work.  I was part of a six-week missionary trip with the organization Let’s Start Talking in which English speakers are sent around the …

15 Psalms to Strengthen You When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed. Gosh, friend, this word makes me cringe.  I know it’s tactic from the Enemy to make me believe that God is not in control, and I’m left on my own.  Oh, what lies and havoc the Enemy brings into our life, my dear Giant Slayer! If the phrases “I’m overwhelmed” or “I’m struggling” are …

The Power of God’s Truth in Creating Godly Affirmations

Claiming and affirming God’s words validate His power in our lives.  It’s not about the “getting what we want” mentality that the world claims with affirmations.  We are not talking about the “Universe” giving us what we want because we say it out loud. No, Giant Slayer, we are talking about God’s Truth.
